Private data converter
JSON to CSV Converter
Turn an object or array of objects into properly escaped CSV. Paste JSON or open a local file, choose how nested data is represented, then copy or download the complete result.
Paste JSON or upload a .json file to begin.
Files up to 5 MB are read locally. Input content and filenames are not sent to ToolsWeave analytics.
How to convert JSON to CSV
- 1
Paste or upload JSON
Add an object or array of objects, or choose a UTF-8 .json file up to 5 MB.
- 2
Choose nested-data behavior
Keep flattening on for dot-separated object fields, or preserve nested values as JSON text.
- 3
Convert and review
The converter validates JSON, discovers all columns, and shows row and column counts.
- 4
Download the CSV file
Copy the result or save the complete conversion as converted.csv.
What happens to nested JSON?
With flattening enabled, nested object keys become columns such as user.name and user.address.city. Arrays stay intact as JSON text because expanding them could change the number or meaning of rows. With flattening off, every nested object or array is serialized into its own CSV cell; nested information is never silently discarded.
JSON vs CSV
JSON represents nested objects, arrays, booleans, numbers, nulls, and strings. CSV is a flat table of rows and columns. Conversion works best when each JSON object describes one record; uneven object keys are combined into the full header set and missing cells remain empty.
When should you convert JSON to CSV?
CSV is useful for importing API exports into spreadsheets, reporting systems, analytics tools, and databases that expect tabular data. The generated UTF-8 CSV follows standard quoting rules for commas, quotes, and line breaks, although an importing application may still ask you to confirm encoding or delimiter settings.
JSON to CSV Converter FAQ
How do I convert JSON to CSV?
Paste or upload a JSON object or array of objects, choose the flattening setting, and select Convert to CSV.
Can the converter handle uneven object keys?
Yes. It discovers fields across every object, adds each field to the header, and leaves a cell empty when a row does not contain that field.
How are commas and quotes escaped?
Fields containing commas, quotes, or line breaks are quoted. A quote inside a quoted field is doubled according to CSV conventions.
What happens to null and empty strings?
Both produce empty CSV cells. CSV cannot reliably preserve the semantic difference between them, so review the output if that distinction matters.
Can I convert nested JSON?
Yes. Nested objects can be flattened into dot-separated columns or preserved as JSON text. Nested arrays are preserved as JSON text.
Is my JSON uploaded?
No. A worker in your browser parses and converts the JSON; analytics receives only anonymous action names, not input or filenames.
